Position Summary:

The Windows System Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, and ongoing optimization of Windows Server environments across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms. This role requires a solid foundation in system administration, scripting automation, and disaster‑recovery planning, with an emphasis on improving reliability and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Server Lifecycle Management - Deploy, configure, and decommission Windows Server instances (Physical, VMware, Citrix/Horizon) following change‑management procedures.
  • Advanced PowerShell Automation - Develop reusable scripts for provisioning, patch management, and health monitoring; integrate scripts with orchestration tools.
  • Cluster & High‑Availability - Design and maintain Windows Server Failover Clustering, configure AD replication, and manage Wsus distribution points.
  • Disaster Recovery - Create and test DR plans; manage backups (NetBackup/Legato/Avamar) and storage snapshots.
  • Technical Consultation - Provide guidance to development teams on OS compatibility, performance tuning, and system interface design.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing - Author detailed runbooks; lead internal knowledge‑transfer sessions.
  • On‑Call Support - Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule to address urgent incidents outside regular hours.
