POSITION SUMMARY:

The Windows System Administrator I supports the lifecycle management, configuration, and security of Menard Inc.’s Windows-based infrastructure, including servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and core enterprise services across Corporate, Distribution Centers, Manufacturing, and Store environments.

This role focuses on executing standardized operational processes, maintaining system health, supporting structured patching and configuration management, and contributing to a secure and stable infrastructure environment. Working closely with Infrastructure, Application Teams, and IT Support, the Windows System Administrator I helps deliver reliable, scalable, and well-managed platform services.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the lifecycle management, configuration, and security of Windows Server and storage environments and associated infrastructure platforms
  • Execute structured operating system and application patch management processes to maintain system security and stability
  • Monitor system health and respond to alerts, incidents, and performance issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Perform routine system administration tasks across Active Directory, Group Policy, backup systems, file services, and virtualization platforms
  • Assist in the administration of storage platforms (SAN, NAS, and file servers), including capacity management and basic performance monitoring
  • Collaborate across Infrastructure and Application teams to support system deployments, maintenance activities, and incident resolution
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, increase automation, and reduce manual effort
  • Utilize scripting and automation tools (PowerShell required) to support repeatable and scalable infrastructure operations
  • Follow structured change management, documentation, and operational standards to ensure consistency and auditability
  • Contribute to maintaining system security through adherence to hardening standards, access controls, and patch compliance
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as required

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments in a production setting
  • Working knowledge of core Windows technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, backup and recovery systems)
  • Experience with system monitoring, incident response, and operational support processes
  • Basic scripting experience required (PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V or VMware) and enterprise storage concepts
  • Understanding of system hardening, patching, and security best practices
  • Exposure to version control systems (Git-based platforms) and automation tools preferred
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
