Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for the permanent, full-time position of Wildfire Mitigation Program Manager in Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency.

Reporting to the Assistant Chief - Community Risk Reduction, Logistics & Infrastructure, the Wildfire Mitigation Program Manager is responsible for creating program(s) to build wildfire risk resilience through proactive planning, analytics, technology, operational excellence, and strategic partnerships. The Program Manager consults regularly through the chain of command with chiefs and other staff providing guidance and advice on wildfire mitigation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Post-Secondary Education in Natural Resources, Forestry, Ecology or a related field.
Minimum of three years of experience in wildfire mitigation (or equivalent) programs.
S591 Wildfire Behavior Specialist or equivalent
Valid NS Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
S403 Public Information Officer (Wildfires), or equivalent
ICS Levels 100, 200, 300, or equivalent
ICS 400 is considered an asset.
Wildland Urban Interface Trainer is considered an asset.
Wildfire Strike Team Leader is considered an asset.
Wildfire Investigator is considered an asset.
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must clearly demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

WORK STATUS: Permanent Full-Time
HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday for 35-hours per week. Flex options to work outside of these hours and hybrid may be available.
SALARY: $90,466 - $117,079. Salary will be determined based on relevant experience and qualifications related to the specified pay band and job. Placement above the midpoint of the pay band is typically reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the minimum qualifications, such as those with exceptional experience, specialized skills, or demonstrated achievements relevant to the role. This ensures fair and consistent compensation practices across the organization.
WORK LOCATION: 40 Alderney Drive, Dartmouth Nova Scotia, B2Y 2N5. Work location may change based on operational requirements.
