West High School is seeking applicants for Dance Team Coach starting with the 2026-27 school year. The primary goal of a Dance Team Coach is to instruct, guide and enable students to perform to the best of their dance abilities while ensuring a positive, professional, and team-spirited learning environment.
West High School is one of four high schools in the Green Bay Public School District. A vibrant and diverse school, West offers a community atmosphere focused on providing rigorous academic offerings, educating all students to be college, career and community ready. A successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate or will possess:
- Dance coaching experience that has demonstrated success for its student-athletes.
- A coaching and learning philosophy that includes thoughts on the role of athletics, winning and losing, competition, players, school, and community.
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- A leadership role in developing summer opportunities so as to ensure athlete development within the dance program.
- The ability to effectively plan and organize scheduling, budget and transportation demands within the dance program in cooperation with the Activities Director.
- The ability to work diligently with the athletic staff to assist all student-athletes within the dance program that maximizes their academic as well as athletic potential.
- The ability to support and initiate Booster Club efforts with regard to membership and fund-raising.
Examples of Specific Responsibilities:
- Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
- Coaches and instructs the team during practices and games.
- Develop a try-out process if needed.
- Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
- Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Works with the Activities Director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
- Coaches and instructs the dance team, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Observes the team members, during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
- Establishes and maintains standards of behavior and provides proper supervision.
- Monitors team members that all eligibility requirements are met.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
- Communicates with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student.
- Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
- Choreograph and prepare routines for performances at games and events.
- Choreograph and prepare routines for competitions.
- Participates in special activities.
- Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
- Work with the Activities Director to develop a policy for awards and submit a list of award winners at the end of the season.
- Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
