The Welder position is a vital part of our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding steel components used in the production of trailers while following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), blueprints, and instructions provided by supervisors or team leads.
Successful candidates will produce high-quality welds, inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met, assist teammates as needed, and contribute to a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow all company quality standards using a "Stop and Fix" mindset to ensure defects are corrected immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area while following 5S and all company safety standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and drawings.
- Take accurate measurements and plan work according to specifications.
- Select the appropriate welding equipment, settings, and welding methods for each job.
- Set up and position components for welding according to specifications.
- Prepare metal surfaces using angle grinders and other hand tools.
- Align and secure components using fixtures, clamps, tape measures, levels, and speed squares.
- Perform MIG welding in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as required.
- Weld trailer components while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
- Fill gaps, repair imperfections, and prepare assemblies for the next stage of production.
- Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, and conformance to specifications.
- Maintain welding equipment in safe operating condition and report equipment issues promptly.
- Assist other welders and departments as needed to meet daily production goals.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all company policies and procedures.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work in awkward positions throughout a 10-hour shift.
- Perform overhead welding and work in confined or elevated positions as needed.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Two to three years of industrial welding experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and measuring devices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must support and promote a safe working environment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
