Welder Shop Manager

We are seeking an experienced Welder Shop Manager to oversee operations in our welding fabrication shop body shop and minor mechanical repairs for used Class 6-8 trucks and related equipment. This leadership role is responsible for planning organizing and supervising the shop staff and functions ensuring efficient maintenance processes high-quality workmanship and timely project completion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing daily operations of the welding fabrication and body shop.
  • Supervising and mentoring maintenance and welding staff.
  • Overseeing inspection repair prepost servicing and quality assurance processes.
  • Coordinating vehicle distribution and disposal at the Division level.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Collaborating with other departments and management to optimize fleet and equipment support.

This position requires strong leadership technical expertise in welding and fabrication and experience in managing a team in a maintenance or repair environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for ordering supplies needed for the container shop while staying within budget. Maintain container inventory counts online. Organizes labor needs for the container shop andor installations. Responsible for all shipping and receiving which involves the accurate handling of incoming and outgoing shipments inspecting items for damage updating inventory records and preparing items for shipping by packaging labeling and arranging for carriers. Ability to build custom containers per customers specifications. Oversee all container repairs including validation of weld quality. Ensure all safety standards are maintained or exceeded Operate within a financial set budget Collaborate with the operations team for successful inventory and deployment of assets.

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
  • Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology as job appropriate being used by Waste Pro USA.
  • Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint and maintenance software programs e.g. Dossier etc..
  • Must be Forklift Certified.
  • Must have basic financial acumen.
  • Certified Welder multiple metals.
  • Must be customer service oriented by providing accurate and timely information building sustainable relationships identifying customer needs maintaining empathy and a positive attitude.
  • Must have servant leader mentality by prioritizing the needs and wellbeing of their team members putting their growth and success first and fostering an environment of empowerment and development.
