Weld Manufacturing Engineer

Description

• Lead daily operations in the weld area, supervising 4-8 welders
• Drive process improvements focused on safety, quality, and throughput
• Implement and maintain work instructions, training programs, and standard operating procedures
• Oversee new weld fixtures and equipment (recent $2M investment) to optimize workflow
• Ensure each weld stage meets required cycle times and production targets
• Conduct weld inspections; perform CWB‑related duties if certified
• Support ramp‑up activities for new contracts (e.g., Romada)
• Troubleshoot weld quality issues and collaborate with engineering on corrective actions
• Maintain lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Monitor safety compliance and drive safety improvements across the weld area
• Provide technical guidance to welders; mentor welders transitioning into engineering roles
• Support documentation, reporting, and production scheduling for the weld department

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred but not required

Strong hands‑on welding experience

CWB certification highly preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Knowledge of fixture design, weld tooling, and manufacturing equipment

Experience with lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement

Ability to develop work instructions, training materials, and process documentation

Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance

Effective communication and leadership skills

Ability to manage multiple stages, cycle times, and production priorities

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
