Job Summary
Mental Health Resource Center, a comprehensive not-for-profit provider of mental health and social services and a Joint Commission-accredited organization, is seeking an Inpatient Clinician for the Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CCSU) at our Northside facility.


The Inpatient Clinician is responsible for conducting initial and ongoing assessments of patients in the CCSU to ensure the delivery of individualized treatment and services. This role provides individual, group, and family therapy sessions focused on functional, social, personal, and educational needs, and completes trauma and other assessments as recommended by the Psychiatrist or APRN.


Responsibilities 
  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy sessions to CCSU patients and their families.
     Delivers individual and group training on functional, social, personal, and psychoeducational skills.
     Completes patient documentation in a timely and accurate manner, including:
    •  Biopsychosocial assessments 
    •  Treatment plans and treatment plan reviews 
    •  Progress toward treatment goals and objectives 
    •  All services provided in the patient medical record 
    •  All contact with patients, families/significant others, and service providers 
    •  Collection and documentation of collateral information 
  • Participates in daily rounds and treatment team meetings; communicates patient progress, concerns, and family session updates.
     Assesses and monitors for risk, trauma symptoms, and indications of abuse, neglect, or abandonment; utilizes appropriate reporting procedures.
  • Completes initial and ongoing assessments of patients and their post-discharge environments.
  •  Communicates with designated representatives, as authorized, to gather information and maintain ongoing collaboration throughout admission.
  • Participates in treatment planning with patients and families/caregivers to identify and address needs.
  • Initiates and follows up on requests for previous psychiatric or medical records.
  • Coordinates financial information with the financial clerk.
  • Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop treatment and discharge plans and support patients in achieving their goals.
  • Identifies and develops appropriate community resources to support successful post-discharge functioning.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or a related Human Services field from an accredited college or university required (related fields must include at least 30 hours of coursework in human behavior and development).
  • Valid Florida Registered Intern credential (IMH, ISW, or IMT) required.
  • Previous experience working with child/adolescent mental health populations preferred.
  •  Valid Florida license (LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT) preferred.
  •  CFARS certification preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to make sound, independent decisions daily, including recognizing risks and emergencies and responding appropriately. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by making a positive impact in the community.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to effectively interact with patients, families, community providers, and multidisciplinary staff. This position involves both individual and group interaction with patients in a locked unit setting.
Position Details
Every other Saturday and Sunday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Founded in Jacksonville in May 1977, Mental Health Resource Center, Inc. (MHRC) is a Florida not-for-profit corporation that provides a wide range of behavioral health and social services to the community.  Included in MHRC’s service array are 24-hour emergency services; inpatient psychiatric services for children, adolescents and adults; and numerous outpatient services, including medication management, case management, counseling, supported housing, psychosocial rehabilitation, two programs for the homeless, a therapeutic family program, state hospital liaison services, forensic services, in-jail services, and nine Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) programs for adults with severe and persistent mental illness located in Clearwater, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Kissimmee, Naples, Rockledge, Tampa, and Winter Haven. 

Since 1989, MHRC’s programs have been fully accredited by The Joint Commission.  Inpatient services are licensed by the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration.  MHRC is a certified agency of United Way of Northeast Florida.      

MHRC accepts and directly bills most insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurance plans.  Individuals who do not have health insurance and cannot afford our standard rates may be eligible for a reduced fee, depending on their income and number of household members.  Some MHRC programs are funded in part by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and its managing entities, LSF Health Systems, Central Florida Behavioral Health Network, and Central Florida Cares Health System; the federal government; and the City of Jacksonville.
