Position Title: Teacher Assistant

Location: Early Childhood Education Center

Reports To: Lead Teacher / Center Director

Hours: 11:30am to 5:00pm

Position Summary:

The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. This role is essential in ensuring the well-being, supervision, and development of all children in the classroom while assisting with the implementation of daily activities and maintaining a clean, organized space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in the supervision, care, and safety of children at all times
  • Support the implementation of daily lesson plans and activities as directed by the Lead Teacher
  • Engage with children in a positive, encouraging, and age-appropriate manner
  • Help prepare and set up materials for classroom activities and learning centers
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment, including toys, materials, and common areas
  • Assist with daily routines such as meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, and transitions
  • Observe and report any concerns regarding children's behavior, health, or development to the Lead Teacher
  • Model appropriate behavior and classroom expectations for children
  • Follow all center policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety guidelines
  • Support a positive and collaborative team environment

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with young children preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow direction and take initiative when needed • Dependable, patient, and nurturing demeanor

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit on the floor, bend, and move actively throughout the day
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

Work Environment:

This position operates in a classroom setting within an early childhood education center, requiring constant interaction with young children and staff in a busy, active environment.
