Class Summary
Job Description
The Water Technician is responsible for performing technical work in the operation of a drinking water facility to ensure compliance with applicable permits and regulations. Duties include but are not limited to; monitoring plant operations, water quality sample collection and analysis, conducting operational adjustments, recording daily activities and changes in plant operation, operating dewatering equipment, inspecting plant equipment, and identifying maintenance and repair needs.
Grades and Minimum Requirements:
Water/WW Tech I - A12(3) Annual Salary: $40,000.00 - $43,336.00
This class is responsible for assisting other water staff with various operator duties. This is the trainee level class and duties are clearly defined.
Minimum Requirements:
Water/WW Tech II - B22(3) Annual Salary: $49,000.00 - 56,350.00
This class is responsible for performing technical, independent work in the area of water treatment. This class may serve as lead to lower-level classes.
Minimum Requirements:
Water/WW Tech III - B23(3) Annual Salary: $53,286.00 - $61,280.00
This class is responsible for performing highly technical work in the area of water treatment. This class works independently and serves as lead to lower-level staff. This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace.
Minimum Requirements:
Water/WW Tech IV - B24(3) Annual Salary: $57,950.00 - $64,079.00
This class is responsible for serving as a lead worker in the water treatment plant; assigning and monitoring work; and providing training as needed. This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace.
