Overview Ardurra is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Group Leader to join our team in Corpus Christi, TX. We are looking for self-starters who want the opportunity to grow an organization with the support and resources of a national firm.Primary Function The Water Group Leader will have operational responsibility for the Water/Wastewater portion of the business. This person will plan, direct, and oversee water/wastewater and stormwater/infrastructure projects within Ardurra's Corpus Christi Water Practice. You will work closely with the Practice Director while being responsible for overall operations and profit and loss, business development, proposal development, client negotiation, project management, and oversight for water projects, personnel, and resources. You will lead a Group, as well as project teams, and provide exceptional client service. You will provide management expertise to ensure that projects are delivered on budget and on schedule. You will provide technical expertise to help develop effective solutions and to ensure the technical and quality aspects meet all client expectations and industry standards. In addition to your project responsibilities, you will provide advice, mentoring and development to other engineers. Excellent leadership, project and people management and written/verbal communication skills are all critical to success.Key ResponsibilitiesProject DeliveryServe as Project Manager for water/wastewater/stormwater treatment and conveyance projects as Engineer of RecordProvide technical leadership for projects performing a variety of tasks to plan, execute and deliver the completed projectPlan, organize, and manage the production of project deliverables to ensure on time delivery, technical quality and within budgetSupport other project managers with technical evidenced proposals as project issues arise with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors or reviewing agenciesExecute multiple concurrent projects efficientlyPerform or lead teams to perform hydraulic analyses, design calculations, prepare engineering reports, and implement design criteriaConduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for project decisionsEffectively apply industry standards as well as client standards and requirementsWork with project teams to coordinate permits for projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, utility companies, and reviewing and permitting governmental agenciesManage subconsultantsHire, Supervise and Mentor Young ProfessionalsIdentify candidates, review resumes and conduct interviews of potential candidates. Identify internal weaknesses and hire staff with the goal of improving the team.Mentor developing professionals to guide their career development objectives.Review work and provide technical guidance on design approach and challenges.Perform on technically complex projects and act as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members.Recognize when technical/behavioral/professional problems develop and initiate guidance for corrective actionsConduct work in a safe manner and promote health and safety within the office and outside of the office while visiting clients and job sites.Business Development ActivitiesIdentify and track project opportunities across TexasMeet with clients to pre-position Ardurra to be selected for projectsWith assistance from Marketing, develop Statements of Qualifications and Proposals and assist with preparing the technical aspects for project interviews conducted by clientsDevelop positive relationships with clients, earn their confidence and become their trusted adviserParticipate in local and national professional associations including ASCE, AWWA, WEAT, ACEC, and others. Actively participate by seeking leadership roles in the organization and presenting at conferencesSuccessfully negotiate, or assist with negotiating, project fees with clientsOperational ActivitiesFunction as Group Lead within the Water Practice. Assume management and P&L responsibility for a team of engineers and related professionals in Corpus ChristiAssign appropriate staff to projects based on relationships, skill sets and project needsTrack Group budgets, staff chargeability and utilization and manage staff accordingly to meet established metricsOversee monthly billing, track accounts receivable for the Group and assist staff with reducing AR where possibleProvide guidance for, leadership to and management of staff, including annual reviews/engagement process and annual/discretionary compensation managementQualificationsSkilled leader capable of inspiring, motivating, and holding team accountable for delivery and client satisfactionTeam player capable of building relationships both internally and externally, and naturally able to put the team success ahead of their ownEffective project manager capable of delivering projects on schedule and on budgetGreat communicator in both oral and written communicationsCapable of building consensus and cooperation with staff at all skill levelsTechnical ExpertiseAuthorship of studies, reports, master plans, and related technical documents.Planning, evaluation, and design of water/wastewater/stormwater conveyance infrastructure and treatment plants.Education And ExperienceEducation:Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (required).Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (preferred).Licensure:Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas (required).Experience:Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in water/wastewater engineering, including planning, design, and project management for municipal and private-sector clients.Proven record of leading multidisciplinary project teams, mentoring junior staff, and overseeing multiple concurrent projects.Demonstrated expertise in water and wastewater treatment, pumping systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure.Strong background in client relationship management, business development, and strategic growth within the Texas market.Prior experience managing project financials, contracts, and proposals, with a track record of delivering profitable and technically sound projects.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to serve as a technical and business leader within the organizationWhy Ardurra?
