DescriptionAs an Engineer in Training II at GCW, you will perform entry-level professional engineering work including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision.Location and Working RequirementsThis role requires working on-site in Las Vegas, NV. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.Essential FunctionsAssist with design and planning of engineering projects under supervision of the Project Manager.Report preparation, modeling, calculations, drawing preparation and revisions, and review of shop drawings and requests-for-information under Project Manager Supervision.Assist with the preparation of cost estimates, review of modeling and basic calculations.Assist with study plans.Conduct research and preparation of draft technical specifications for review and approval by Project Manager.Interact, as directed, with clients on an intermittent basis as well as gather information from agencies as required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPossesses ability to apply engineering principles to evaluate and solve basic engineering problems.Working knowledge of CAD Civil 3D software and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and Project).For some departments, specific working knowledge of ArcGIS software and/or WaterCAD is preferred.Water/Wastewater Division ResponsibilitiesPerform water and sewer analysis.Prepare GIS databases and exhibits documenting existing and proposed infrastructures.Condition assessment of sewer facilities and rehab recommendations.Improvement plans for reservoirs, pump stations, and sewer lift stations.Improvement plans for major utility infrastructure.Sewer and Water Main infrastructure design.Sewer Capacity Studies.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
