About the Role We are seeking an experienced Water Pretreatment Equipment Technician who can independently install, start up, service, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize commercial and industrial water treatment systems throughout the Greater Chicago area. • This is a hands-on field role for a technician with strong pretreatment equipment experience. • You will manage service calls, preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, and commissioning across an assigned territory. • The right candidate can work independently, solve problems at the customer site, and clearly explain findings and recommended next steps. You’ll Be a Great Fit If • You are an experienced technician. You have at least five years of hands-on experience servicing commercial or industrial water treatment equipment. • You are a strong troubleshooter. You can isolate electrical, mechanical, plumbing, process, and controls-related issues and determine practical solutions. • You work well independently. You can organize your schedule, prioritize multiple customer needs, and take ownership of your territory. • You are comfortable with customers. You communicate clearly, provide practical recommendations, and build trust through dependable service. • You care about safety and quality. You follow procedures, use required PPE, maintain accurate documentation, and take pride in doing the job right. What You’ll Be Doing • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of commercial and industrial water treatment systems. • Install, start up, commission, validate, rebuild, and optimize pretreatment equipment. • Service reverse osmosis (RO), deionization (DI), water softeners, multimedia and carbon filters, UV disinfection, chemical feed systems, chlorine dioxide systems, high-purity water systems, and portable exchange tanks. • Diagnose issues involving PLC-controlled equipment, VFDs, pumps, valves, sensors, controls, instrumentation, electrical components, plumbing, and mechanical systems. • Perform membrane cleanings, RO performance evaluations, sanitization procedures, water-quality testing, and system optimization. • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, plumbing diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment documentation. • Complete preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, service calls, installations, start-ups, and commissioning activities. • Create clear service reports documenting work completed, outstanding issues, recommendations, and next steps. • Communicate with customer contacts, Account Managers, Project Managers, and internal service teams. • Maintain tools, PPE, truck stock, field equipment, documentation, calendar, and vehicle cleanliness. • Mentor and support junior technicians on troubleshooting, service procedures, documentation, and customer communication.
