Title: Water Fitness Instructor, Internal Group Exercise FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Starting Pay Range: $14-16/Hourly Status: Part Time Reports to: Wellness Director POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Wellness Director and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley (GMV) YMCA Association, the Water Fitness Instructor is responsible for providing instructional leadership for Water Wellness classes for all facility members and program participants. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Enforces all pool rules to promote a safe environment for all participants and members.
- Maintains all instructional equipment, including proper usage and storage of class materials.
- Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
- Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being.
- Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health and culture.
- Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.
- Keeps accurate class attendance records.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
- Maintains current certifications at all times.
- Attends all required trainings, in-service meetings, and branch meetings as required.
- Covers all scheduled shifts and/or finds substitute coverage for 100% of all scheduled shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Certifications: Must have current CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Nationally recognized/branded Water Fitness certification is preferred.
- Must have a working knowledge of water safety and the ability to teach to all levels and abilities
- YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works with various types of fitness equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud while in the pool performing job duties.
