Position Overview
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Water Facilities Operator I in the Department of Utilities. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.
Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled and skilled work in the inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment used in the distribution, storage, and disinfection of raw and potable water systems; performs related duties as assigned.
NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:
Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

2) Current Grade I Operator-In-Training Certification Issued by the State of Nevada Department of Environmental Protection in one of the following areas: Water Distribution, Water Treatment, or Wastewater Treatment; or a Grade I Restricted Certification issued by the State of Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) in Wastewater Collections*
3) Current Grade I Water Distribution Certification, or higher, issued by the State of Nevada Department of Environmental Protection, if applicable*
4) Current Grade I Plant Maintenance Technologist certification issued by Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA), if applicable*
