Primary Purpose Under limited supervision, ensure the proper operation and maintenance of wastewater biological treatment systems and facilities based on current regulations. Responsible for performing adequate process control of wastewater treatment and collection facilities in accordance with permits issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Education Certification High School Diploma or GED. Four years of experience in a Wastewater Utility. Wastewater Technician Class C license. Valid Texas drivers license with demonstrated safe driving record.

Must have skill in the operation of a variety of lab equipment, generators, pumps, gauges, and other common tools. Must have the ability to perform control calculations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material. Must have the ability to operate computer equipment up to long periods of time. Must be able to use a shovel, common hand, and power tools, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, calculator, and a variety of lab equipment.
Other Requirements Four years of experience working with Wastewater operations is preferred.
Personal cell phone is required to handle district-related business, including after hours or when away from the office on district business.
Major Responsibilities and Duties Collects and delivers samples to applicable laboratories and/or other governmental entities.
Operates, maintains, and repairs malfunctions at the wastewater treatment plant. Repairs gauges, pumps, filters, and other controls and equipment.
Operates and maintains sewage pump stations.
Maintains, operates, repairs, and replaces equipment as necessary.
Logs, maintains, and files all reports with governmental entities and/or regulators.
Routinely conducts site inspections ensuring proper operation of all systems and components.
Assembles, installs, and maintains pipes, fittings, and fixtures of wastewater systems according to specifications and codes.
Determines sources of malfunctions and completes repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
Receives and completes work orders.
Selects material and hardware and makes time and materials estimates.
Maintains accurate records on material and labor used.
Maintains inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
Inspects systems and ensures areas are clean.
Detects needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
Assists construction personnel as needed.
Responds to emergency calls as needed.
Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
Ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition.
Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Corrects unsafe conditions in the work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
Reviews and assesses all aspects of CISDs wastewater treatment facilities to suggest and recommend methods for improving efficiency and oversight, such as:
Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance, and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
