WA is hiring a Mechanic In Training in Dodge City, KS!
Pay: 20-21/hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm, with rotating on call shifts
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on water/wastewater plant equipment, structures, and systems.
Assist in diagnosing and repairing motors (10 HP or higher), valves, pumps, panels, and other plant components.
Operate and maintain tools and equipment in accordance with safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
Collaborate with electricians to maintain and replace electrical systems and components.
Work in confined spaces such as lift stations, valve vaults, and wet wells, sometimes for extended periods.
Utilize diagnostic tools and computerized systems to monitor, troubleshoot, and report equipment issues.
Respond to after-hours emergency calls on a rotating basis, including weekends and holidays.
Maintain accurate work orders, material requisitions, and service records using electronic work order systems.
Safely handle and work around solvents, de-greasers, and raw sewage while using appropriate PPE.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver?s license with a clean driving record.
Reside no more than 30 minutes from Dodge City.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with the geographic area of Dodge City.
Experience operating hydraulic and diesel-powered equipment.
Ability to safely work in hazardous environments using SCBA or safety harness.
Knowledge of utility drawings, pump/motor diagrams, and color codes for electrical wiring and safety markings.
Additional Information:
This position includes participation in a weekly rotating on-call schedule. Timely and responsible response is required during all on-call hours. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently and make decisions within established guidelines.
