Regional Controller – Waste Management Needed!

Location: Hattiesburg, Mississippi (Remote Flexibility)
Salary: $120K+ Bonus
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Tews Company is partnering with a growing leader in the waste management industry to find an Experienced Controller for our Mississippi region. This role oversees multiple facilities within the territory, providing strategic financial leadership, operational insights, and partnership with business leaders to drive efficiency and profitability.

This position is ideal for a finance professional with waste industry experience, strong analytical skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset. The role offers work-from-home flexibility, a competitive salary plus bonus, and opportunities for career growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial operations across multiple regional facilities, including accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.

  • Partner with business leaders to monitor performance, identify trends, and recommend strategies to improve profitability.

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning; evaluate investment opportunities and operational initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Mentor and develop finance staff to strengthen regional capabilities.

  • Support M&A activities, proforma analysis, and post-acquisition integration when needed.

  • Provide financial guidance on pricing, cost control, and operational improvements.

  • Utilize ERP and financial reporting tools to maintain accurate, actionable data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.

  • At least 3 years of direct experience in the waste management industry.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, cost analysis, and operational finance.

  • Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency; experience with reporting/analytics tools a plus.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Highly adaptable with an entrepreneurial mindset and growth-oriented approach.

  • Occasional travel across the regional territory.
