STAT is looking for an enterprising, versatile, curious, and hard-charging reporter to join our award-winning Washington D.C. bureau at this unique moment in our country’s history, when an understanding of the issues that STAT covers in Washington is more relevant than ever. This reporter will pursue ambitious and impactful stories focused on the intersection of federal policy and the development and regulation of new medicines and medical products. The Food and Drug Administration will be a major area of focus. We’re looking for a reporter who can break news and deliver quick-turn analyses, and also conceive of and execute illuminating, provocative, and unexpected enterprise stories. Our Washington reporters make up a small but close-knit team that stands out for exclusives.

Compensation/Location
The salary range for reporters at STAT is $74,911-120,000. This range reflects the band for this role. We are committed to fair and market-informed compensation. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates could be hired within the midpoint of the range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by their particular combination of skills, experience, and qualifications.

STAT’s Washington D.C. office is adjacent to the Boston Globe’s downtown D.C. bureau and is easily accessible by multiple Metro lines and buses. We have colleagues in the organization who come into the office on a regular basis. The strongest candidates for this position would be based in the area or willing to move there.
