Direct Care Workers for Washtenaw Supported Living Program and Deake House

Our housing programs provide more than just a place to live—we help residents secure and maintain safe, stable housing while receiving the support they need to thrive. As a Direct Care Worker (DCW), you will play a vital role in helping individuals maintain their housing, develop life skills, and improve their overall quality of life.

Positions Availability

  • Two Part-Time positions available (Thursday-Saturday 8am to 4pm or Sunday -Tuesday 8am to 4pm)
  • Must be available to work weekdays and weekends

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in the direct care, behavioral health, mental health, developmental disabilities, supportive housing, or human services field.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Medication administration experience or certification preferred (Must be a Medication Passer).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to treating all individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and other barriers to independent living within our supportive housing programs.
  • Assist residents in securing, maintaining, and successfully living in stable housing environments.
  • Support residents with daily living skills that promote housing stability and long-term independence.
  • Assist with meal planning, meal preparation, and grocery shopping.
  • Assist with household organization and deep cleaning to help maintain safe and healthy living spaces.
  • Administer medications as prescribed (Must be a Medication Passer).
  • Transport residents to appointments, community resources, and other essential activities (Valid driver's license required).
  • Connect residents with community resources and supportive services that enhance their well-being and self-sufficiency.
  • Encourage participation in recreational and social activities that promote engagement, confidence, and overall wellness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with team members to ensure quality care and support.
