The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of warehouse activities including shipping/receiving, and inventory maintenance. In addition, the Warehouse Supervisor is included in the recruiting and hiring of warehouse personnel, labor planning and workload allocation, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems.

 

  • Nights and Weekends Schedule (Sunday- Thursday, Occasional Saturday)
  • Supervise and assist in daily warehouse and shipping areas
  • Manage the periodic maintenance of all equipment, fixtures and fabric on warehouse premises
  • Develop and maintain a productive work team through training and professional development
  • Establish, maintain and promote high standards of customer service
  • Liaise with drivers, customers and warehouse personnel
  • Maintain effective internal control over product flow and inventory
  • Manage and maintain adherence to both customer and company standard operating procedures to allow the accurate, timely, and safe handling of goods.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
  • Recommend measures to improve the quality of service and increase efficiency of department
  • Participate in the selection process of new personnel, train incoming personnel
  • Other duties as assigned by Warehouse Management

 

  • Broad knowledge of warehouse operations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills at all levels regarding supervision, counseling and discipline
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and delegate work
  • Proficient with computers
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures and maintenance instructions.
  • Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
  • Single-double, clamp, and other specialized forklift attachment experience preferred
  • Forklift certification

 

At least 4 years experience managing within a warehouse environment

At least 3 years experience operating a forklift

High school diploma

 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required for extended periods of time to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch (by bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine), maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling. The employee may be required to pull (using upper extremities to exert force in order to haul or tug objects in a sustained motion) or remove inventory from shelves, lift up to 50 pounds (group lift up to 70 pounds), raise objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally from position-to-position, climb ladders and use forklift machines. Must wear goggles, gloves and vest when required.

 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in a non-heated/air-conditioned warehouse throughout all seasons and is subjected to outside environmental conditions. Workers are required to adhere to strict safety regulations.
