Description of Work

Directing central warehouse operations including responsibility for purchasing, receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuing all supplies, materials, tools, and equipment. Work is performed independently with a minimum of supervision from administrative superiors and is reviewed on the basis of efficient warehouse operations and procedures and an adequate inventory of supplies and materials.

Responsibilities Include:
• Warehouse Operations and Inventory Management: Manage and maintain perpetual inventory systems for automotive parts, office supplies, forms, reports, and equipment. Ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained to support agency operations statewide.
• Procurement and Vendor Management: Coordinate procurement activities through the State E-Procurement system. Research products and best practices, communicate with vendors, review invoices, negotiate operational needs, and ensure timely receipt of ordered materials.
• Distribution and Logistics: Direct and coordinate the receipt, storage, packaging, loading, and distribution of inventory.
• Supervision and Personnel Management: Supervise, train, direct, and evaluate assigned warehouse personnel. Monitor daily warehouse operations and ensure compliance with agency procedures and performance expectations.
• Financial and Administrative Oversight: Manage purchasing records, inventory databases, receiving documentation, procurement transactions, P-Card reconciliation activities, and reports supporting warehouse accountability and fiscal stewardship.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methods of warehouse management.

  • Considerable knowledge of purchasing and shipping methods and practices. Knowledgeable of sanitation and safety guidelines related to the receiving and storage of supplies.

  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory control records and generate system reports using the NC E-Procurement and the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS).

  • Ability to supervise the work of subordinate warehouse personnel.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors and the general public.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm. Flexibility is required to support shipments and mandatory operations.
