Main responsibilities:
Responsible for overall distribution center operational and financial performance of one or more departments, which includes receiving, storage, and shipping of products to meet retail store requirements.
- Lead, coach & manage warehouse exempt & hourly staff, both union and non-union personnel.
- Train and develop Supervisors & Superintendents, identifying and mentoring high-potential candidates.
- Demonstrate ability to lead problem-solving efforts, initiate and execute Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and deliver positive outcomes to the site, the business and our customers.
- Drive & maintain a data-rich environment and demonstrate the ability to use data, along with associate input and feedback, to improve business processes, identify opportunities for cost reduction and deliver (exceed) expected business results.
- Develop an annual Operating Plan along with quarterly Projection commitments, adhere to the approved plans and attain specific goals and measurable results.
- Implement all Company best practices in managing inventories using our warehouse management system, including driving reductions in inventory adjustments, warehouse dump loss & store credits and improving inventory accuracy.
- Maintain accurate information within all warehouse management operating systems.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain a safe and sanitary work environment, in strict compliance with government regulations and Company policies.
- Correctly administer the CBA and effectively resolve union grievances and issues.
- Ensure positive and proactive communications and interactions with all distribution departments.
- Optimize the company''s resource capital and expenses.
- Ensure adherence to all Company policies, procedures and practices.
- Develop and execute all department shift schedules and schedule staffing to maximize productivity, ensuring all business goals and objectives are achieved (i.e., store deliveries on-time).
- Demonstrate ability to effectively manage personnel in an accountable environment to ensure safe, accurate and efficient operations.
- Manage a diverse workforce and meet all established BWI initiatives.
- Maintain all 5S & Sarbanes-Oxley compliances.
- Meet and exceed accountabilities and measures.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics or 7 years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA, USDA, HAACP, FDA, DEA, safety regulations, sanitation, and food safety as required for Warehouse operations.
- Self-motivated, high energy, and a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrated willingness to change, try new ideas and innovate.
- Analytical problem-solving skills, the ability to use and ideate through data and the ability to create, execute and deliver plans and initiatives.
- Ability to influence peers and superiors and build consensus with all associates and stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze forecasts and measure day-to-day operations through data and observation.
- Fluency in MS Excel & working knowledge of MS Word and MS Access.
- Working knowledge of engineered labor standards.
- Experience working in a union environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of union contract administration.
- Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems.
- Superior planning and organization skills.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to apply internal control practices.
- Possess initiative, customer service skills, and resourcefulness.
