Dircks Moving & Logistics is seeking an Warehouse Manager who will be involved in interactions with our customers, Operations, and Customer Support while ensuring we deliver the highest quality service to our customers.
 
SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in moving, inventorying, vaulting, and storing goods by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
  • Inspects warehouse facilities, equipment, and recommends changes in allocation of space and procedures to supervisor.
  • Examines items to be moved, to ascertain approximate weights, and type of equipment and materials required.
  • Manages equipment, materials, and warehousing inventory.
  • Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
  • Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment. 
  • Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for repair/replacement of equipment.
  • Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.
  • Directs assigned crews to specific tasks and manages manpower to ensure efficiency.
  • Directs salvage of damaged or used materials.
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for damages or discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Ensures inventory transactions are being completed correctly by warehouse team.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Maintains inventory control systems utilizing company software.
  • Trains and supports local crews in the warehouse.
  • Manage drivers and ensure customer deliveries are handled in a timely manner.
  • Solicit new and existing customers for freight opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, dispatchers, and other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Participates in monthly and weekly team meetings. Hosts meeting with warehouse support staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs and supervises 2-20 warehouse personnel and driver.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, approving time clock hours for warehouse personnel and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Basic knowledge of collection law.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
