A well-established and rapidly growing specialty contractor is seeking an experienced Vice President of Pre-Construction to lead and elevate its pre-construction operations. This executive leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee a high-performing team while driving strategy, innovation, and profitability on complex commercial construction projects. Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Pre-Construction Managers, Technical Pre-Construction Managers, and Estimators.
Oversee all aspects of the preconstruction process, including conceptual design, budgeting, estimating, engineering coordination, scheduling, and proposal development.
Partner with Business Development to help secure new projects through client presentations, proposal strategy, and contract negotiations.
Drive project profitability by optimizing design solutions, engineering, project planning, and procurement strategies.
Coordinate internal resources including estimating, engineering, drafting, and design teams to ensure successful project execution.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders throughout the preconstruction phase.
Ensure seamless handoff of awarded projects to construction teams with accurate budgets, schedules, and procurement completed.
Provide executive oversight of project financial performance, risk management, quality, and safety initiatives.
Develop and mentor future leaders while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Qualifications
Proven experience leading preconstruction, estimating, or project management teams within commercial construction.
Experience managing multiple large, complex projects from concept through award.
Strong background in budgeting, estimating, procurement, contract negotiations, and client presentations.
Demonstrated leadership experience developing high-performing teams and mentoring staff.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage project profitability and risk.
Experience overseeing projects valued at $5M+.
Minimum of 5 years of project management experience and 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams.
Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites as needed.
