Job Summary and Qualifications The VP of Quality & Patient Safety is responsible for the design, planning, leadership, implementation, and evaluation of the MHS Quality Program in concert with the hospital(s) Mission, Vision and Values, Code of Conduct and Strategic Plan. Essential Job Functions: 1. Develops, implements, analyzes and evaluates programs related to organizational/nursing quality and risk management, medical staff performance measurement and improvement, and infection control. 2. Plans the use, development and acquisition of databases and other information systems related to the collection, analysis and reporting of organizational and medical staff quality/risk/infection control data. 3. Manages personnel to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training, staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. 4. Collaborates with senior nursing leadership, Administration, and other MHS departments to improve the quality of patient care provided and enhance the Methodist Healthcare image and reputation within the community and region. 5. Keeps abreast of national quality initiatives, trends and requirements. Oversees and facilitates initiatives related to Public Reporting measures; action planning for success. 6. Communicates, collaborates and negotiates with employees at all levels throughout the organization, health care consumers, federal and state officials, accrediting bodies and other business contacts. What qualifications you will need: Master's Degree in Nursing or related healthcare discipline. 7 years clinical and managerial experience in a healthcare setting at least three of which are related to quality. Demonstrated leadership and management skills required. TQM training and experience is preferred.
