The VP of North American Claims Group oversees litigation related to insurance policies across all lines of business, collaborating with underwriting, finance, actuarial, operations, and technology teams.
Key responsibilities include managing coverage litigation, analyzing matters, retaining counsel, developing strategies, overseeing discovery, and representing the company in legal proceedings such as mediations and arbitrations.
They ensure compliance with litigation procedures, stay updated on legal trends, and report developments to management.
Additionally, they provide guidance on coverage issues, identify training opportunities, prepare reports, and coordinate with external counsel and industry events.
Qualifications require at least 15 years’ experience in liability insurance claims or litigation, a J.D. degree, excellent negotiation skills, and proficiency in legal research and Microsoft Office.
