Overview:
The Government & Education Relationship Officer proactively manages and expands existing client relationships through routine calling activity while independently identifying and developing new government and education clients targeting municipal governments, county governments, private colleges and universities, and private schools.
This role delivers commercial lending, interest-bearing and non-interest-bearing deposit products, along with treasury management and payment processing services. This role also supports the borrowing needs of these institutions by referring clients to the Bank’s Commercial & Industrial (“C&I”), Commercial Real Estate (“CRE”) and Residential Lending teams.
The Government & Education Relationship Officer conducts outside sales and business development activities to meet or exceed production goals while ensuring a high level of client satisfaction across an assigned portfolio. This role collaborates closely with Retail Banking and Private Client staff and other internal business partners to deliver integrated financial solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research to identify new government and education clients and prospects.
- Represent the Bank to government and education clients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide prompt, efficient and accurate service in processing requests and transactions.
- Determine clients’ banking needs; explain available banking services; process applications related to cash management, online banking and merchant services.
- Analyze, prepare and present proposals including responses to RFP and RFQ process.
- Work independently to develop new government and educational banking client relationships.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of client operations, financial needs, industry trends, risk and opportunities.
- Build a quality external network within the government and education sectors.
- Work closely and cooperatively with the Bank’s other lines of business and operational teams to deliver an integrated and seamless experience.
- Provide end-to-end guidance and solutions to business clients by uncovering their business priorities and matching them with financial solutions.
- Stay abreast of market and industry trends affecting clients and translate those trends into business opportunities.
- Provide highly personalized service to business clients and serve as a liaison between clients and other internal Bank partners.
- Establish strong relationships with clients to identify needs and opportunities, present product solutions and close the sale.
- Participate in community activities that match clients’ interests to expand business relationships.
- Represent the Bank at various civic, community and professional functions to enhance its image and develop additional business.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Proven success in consultative outside sales in consultative outside sales in government and education financial services.
- Passionate about outside sales and enjoys spending time prospecting.
- Self-motivated to enhance existing relationships and exceed sales goals
- Able to analyze financial conditions and needs of clients and industry trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage with clients and identify needs to enhance the client relationship.

Compensation: $105,000 to $175,000 base salary annually. Actual compensation may vary depending on location, experience, and other factors.
