Vice President of Accounting
Family Office | Los Angeles

A private family office in Los Angeles is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to oversee accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and entity-level operations across a complex multi-entity structure. This is a senior-level role working closely with the principals, outside advisors, and internal team members to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and timely execution across the family office platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, prior experience supporting high-net-worth individuals, family offices, investment entities, real estate holdings, trusts, partnerships, or other complex ownership structures. This role requires someone who is hands-on, highly organized, discreet, and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for multiple entities, including partnerships, LLCs, trusts, investment vehicles, real estate holdings, and personal entities.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany activity, and financial statement preparation.
• Review cash activity, banking transactions, wire transfers, liquidity needs, and cash flow reporting.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors, investment managers, estate planning attorneys, banks, and other professional service providers.
• Support tax planning and compliance by preparing schedules, reviewing K-1s, tracking estimated tax payments, and coordinating entity-level tax information.
• Oversee accounting for investment activity, including capital calls, distributions, brokerage activity, private investments, and real estate holdings.
• Maintain strong internal controls, documentation standards, and approval processes across the family office.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, while remaining hands-on when needed.
• Assist with special projects, including entity structuring, system improvements, reporting enhancements, process documentation, and ad hoc principal requests.
• Ensure a high level of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in all family office matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with prior family office, private wealth, real estate, investment management, business management, or public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and complex ownership structures.
• Experience working with trusts, partnerships, LLCs, investment entities, and high-net-worth individuals is highly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work with a high level of discretion.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with principals, executives, advisors, and internal team members.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a lean, high-touch environment.
