Job Summary
The Volumetric Concrete Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a volumetric concrete mixer truck to deliver and produce high-quality concrete at construction sites throughout the region. Unlike traditional ready-mix delivery, this position requires the driver to accurately proportion and mix concrete on-site based on project specifications while maintaining production quality, scheduling deliveries, and providing exceptional service to field operations.
This role requires a self-motivated individual who can effectively manage daily delivery schedules, maintain equipment, communicate with project teams, and ensure all safety and quality standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Concrete Production & Delivery
- Safely operate a volumetric concrete mixer truck in accordance with all DOT regulations and Company policies.
- Produce and mix concrete on-site to meet project specifications and customer requirements.
- Monitor concrete quality, consistency, slump, and yield throughout production.
- Adjust mix designs as necessary while maintaining approved specifications.
- Deliver concrete to multiple construction projects while maintaining production efficiency.
- Ensure accurate batching of cement, aggregates, water, and admixtures.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Coordinate daily delivery schedules with project managers, superintendents, dispatch, and field crews.
- Develop efficient delivery routes to maximize productivity and meet project timelines.
- Communicate anticipated arrival times and schedule updates with project personnel.
- Adjust schedules as field conditions, weather, or project demands change.
- Maintain flexibility to accommodate emergency or priority deliveries.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain cleanliness of the truck, mixer, conveyors, hoppers, bins, and operator controls.
- Wash and clean equipment daily to prevent concrete buildup.
- Monitor fluid levels, tire condition, belts, hydraulics, and mechanical components.
- Report maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist with preventative maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime.
Documentation
- Complete delivery tickets accurately and completely.
- Obtain required customer signatures.
- Submit all delivery tickets and supporting documentation daily.
- Maintain accurate production records and material usage.
- Document equipment inspections and maintenance activities.
- Maintain required DOT logs and regulatory documentation.
Safety
- Follow all OSHA, MSHA (when applicable), DOT, and Company safety policies.
- Conduct work safely around heavy equipment, excavation operations, and active construction sites.
- Wear required PPE at all times.
- Perform job hazard assessments before beginning work.
- Immediately report safety concerns, incidents, or equipment issues.
Customer Service
- Maintain professional relationships with internal project teams and external customers.
- Respond professionally to project requests and changing field conditions.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
- Experience operating commercial trucks required.
- Experience operating volumetric concrete trucks preferred.
- Experience in ready-mix concrete, heavy civil construction, or related construction industry preferred.
- Knowledge of concrete production and batching principles is preferred.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.

- Knowledge of concrete materials and mix designs.
- Ability to safely operate volumetric concrete equipment.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deliveries throughout the day.
