Organization Description:
The Brown County Children with Disabilities Education Board (BCCDEB) provides funding and support for Syble Hopp School and seven public school districts within Brown County. Educational programming is provided to meet the needs of children with intellectual disabilities and/or autism from age three through the end of the school year in which they turn 21.
Position Purpose:
We are seeking a Vocational Job Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. The Vocational Job Coach will provide support and guidance to students with disabilities as they work toward their vocational goals and develop skills for success in the workplace.
This role involves working closely with students, teachers, instructional aides, employers, and other stakeholders to create inclusive work environments and facilitate successful job placements. The Vocational Job Coach will work as a member of the educational team to support students' IEP needs, including transition goals, academic support, and behavior interventions.
The Vocational Job Coach will promote the least restrictive environment and support the philosophy of community-based instruction by providing instruction and support at job sites. This position will also uphold the belief that all students deserve access to appropriate educational opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment and Planning
Job Search Assistance
Assist students in identifying suitable job opportunities based on their skills, interests, and vocational goals.
Support students with résumé development, job applications, interview preparation, and workplace communication, as appropriate.
Help students develop an understanding of workplace expectations, including attendance, punctuality, appropriate dress, communication, and professionalism.
On-the-Job Support
Accompany students to job sites and provide on-the-job training, modeling, coaching, and support as needed.
Monitor student progress and address challenges that arise in the workplace through active communication with students, employers, families, and school staff.
Assist students in developing independence by gradually fading supports when appropriate.
Ensure student safety and appropriate supervision while participating in community-based instruction and work experiences.
Employer Engagement
Build and maintain positive relationships with local employers to create job opportunities and community partnerships for students.
Educate employers about the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities and provide support in creating inclusive work environments.
Communicate regularly with employers to gather feedback, problem-solve concerns, and support successful job placements.
Skill Development
Provide ongoing coaching to help students develop and refine vocational, social, communication, self-advocacy, and independent-living skills.
Support students in learning job-specific tasks and adapting to workplace routines and expectations.
Reinforce positive behavior supports and strategies that promote student success in work settings.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, work experiences, job placements, student self-assessments, employer feedback, and other relevant information.
Collect data related to student IEP transition goals and vocational outcomes.
Collaboration and Advocacy
Work collaboratively with teachers, instructional aides, related service providers, vocational rehabilitation counselors, families, employers, and community organizations.
Participate in IEP meetings, transition planning meetings, and other team meetings as appropriate.
Advocate for students' needs, rights, and access to meaningful employment opportunities in the workplace and broader community.
Promote the philosophy of community-based instruction and the least restrictive environment for students.
Working Conditions:

Must participate in and implement all required trainings regarding student and employee safety and emergencies (i.e. ALICE, medication administration, etc.).
May be exposed to environmental hazards (e.g. waste anesthetics, cleaning compounds, facility chemicals), physical hazards (e.g. student kicking, biting, scratching) and blood borne pathogens.
Exposure to indoor and outdoor climate and weather conditions.
Supervision of students using a therapy pool, sensory courtyard and day and/or overnight camp experiences is required.
The noise level in the work environment may vary but is usually moderate.
This role may involve working in various settings, including office environments, client homes, and job sites.
Travel to different locations to meet with Students'' and employers may be required.
