Position Summary: 

​​Vocational Counselors support people in developing their skills, running weekly classes, organizing community-based experiences, connecting people to resources in the greater community, managing a caseload, completing treatment plans and orienting new people to the program.  

​NextChapter’s Learning and Wellness program is a psychiatric rehabilitation and supported education program that promotes overall wellness, develops skills, provides education opportunities and supports adults in their recovery from mental illness.​ 

Compensation & Benefits:

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications. 

Job Duties & Functions: 

  • ​Outreach and maintain a caseload of individuals engaged in services 
  • ​Assist people we serve with setting short and long-term learning and wellness goals 
  • ​Complete data, reports and clinical documentation as required 
  • ​Coordinate care between the rehabilitation department and the clinical team 
  • Facilitate social activities and special events within the community and the program 
  • Support individuals with educational opportunities and training within the program and community 
  • ​Provide program education and orient new people to the program 
  • ​Create class curriculum and facilitate education and wellness-based classes 
  • ​Collaborate with individuals we serve to encourage engagement and support recovery 
  • ​Provide services with a Trauma-Informed approach and crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed 
  • ​Effectively collaborative to oversee the day to day operations of the program 
  • Be self-motivated and have good time-management skills 
  • ​Model good communication, professionalism, healthy working-relationships and appropriate boundaries 
  • ​Support cultural diversity and encourage inclusiveness of people with different abilities 
  • ​Be creative in bringing your strengths and interests to the team and program 
  • ​Ability to transport people we serve to/from activities using agency van

Supported Education Counselor 

  • ​Provide academic support, assessments, education planning and classes for those who are interested in pursuing community-based education, such as obtaining one’s GED, vocational skills and college. 

​ 

Art Education Counselor 

  • ​Support individuals in developing their skills in various visual art forms with the use of different media, running weekly classes, organizing community-based art events and connecting individuals to resources in the greater community. 

​ 

Music Education Counselor 

  • ​Support individuals in developing their skills with various music and performance using different instruments and modalities, running weekly classes, organizing community-based events and connecting individuals to resources in the greater community. 

​ 

Technology Education Counselor 

  • ​Support the people we serve and with basic computer troubleshooting, teach a variety of computer classes, implement creative ways to advance the program with technology. Maintain and monitor local computers and equipment used by the people we serve. Problem solve and ensure adherence to security procedures. Serve as a liaison to the WellPower IS department. 

​ 

Recreation and Fitness Education Counselor 

  • ​Support individuals in developing their skills in various fitness or recreational pursuits, running weekly classes, organizing community-based field trips, and connecting members to resources in the greater community. Plan and facilitate program activities and special events.​ 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements & Qualifications: 

  • ​​Vocational Counselor I: GED or High school Diploma. Colorado Peer Family Specialist Certification. 
  • Vocational Counselor II: Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation or a related field. 
  • Vocational Counselor III: Master’s degree in Rehabilitation or related field. One year of experience in a vocational rehabilitation setting or experience with specific duties of this position is preferred. 
  • ​Certified Psychiatrics Rehabilitation Practitioner preferred.​ 

Work Location: This is a hybrid opportunity open to folks residing in the Greater Denver Metro area and will require 3-4 days per week on-site and the rest of the week working remotely

Shift/Hours: This is a Monday-Friday opportunity observing standard business hours.

Physical Requirements:  Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 40 pounds. Requires manualdexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office and/or clinical equipment​
