Position Summary ----------------

The Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Care from Oregon Tech integrates therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and a general education core with course work in scientific and leadership principles. Registered respiratory therapists are physician extenders who under medical direction administer cardiopulmonary care evaluate and assess pulmonary patients and administer medications and diagnostic tests when appropriate. Their duties involve the use of many of the latest advances in medical arts sciences and technology. The Bachelor of Science degree program prepares respiratory care students for entry into the respiratory care profession and eligibility for the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certificate examination, CRT, and registry examinations, RRT. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to apply for examination and state licensure.

Position Summary ----------------

The Respiratory Care Visiting Instructor provides high-quality instruction and mentorship to students enrolled in both the on-campus and Degree Advancement Respiratory Care programs. This position supports student learning through lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction while promoting the mission and values of Oregon Institute of Technology. The Visiting Instructor collaborates with program faculty to ensure curriculum consistency, fosters professional development, and contributes to student success through active engagement and assessment.

Minimum Requirements -------------------

  • Bachelors degree in Respiratory Care or a related health science field.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Oregon.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical respiratory care experience.

Preferred Qualifications ----------------------

  • Masters degree in Respiratory Care Education or a related field.
  • Prior teaching experience in an academic or clinical setting.
  • Experience with simulation-based instruction and/or online teaching platforms.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations such as the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) or the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Five (5) years of clinical respiratory care experience.
