Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Lecturer of Chemistry

Start Date: August 10, 2026

The Department of Chemistry & Physics at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Lecturer position beginning August 2026. Rank and title will be determined by the highest degree held.

UNC Pembroke is a student-centered public university with a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and undergraduate research. The department offers a hands-on curriculum that prepares chemistry majors for careers in forensics, biotechnology, pharmacy, and related fields. Faculty are deeply engaged with students through laboratory instruction, mentoring, and community-connected learning.

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and will primarily teach general chemistry lecture and/or laboratory courses, with the possibility of teaching advanced courses aligned with the candidate's expertise.

Qualifications

Required

  • M.S. in Chemistry conferred by the start of the appointment (Candidates with an M.S. will be appointed as Visiting Lecturer)

Preferred

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry (Candidates with a Ph.D. will be appointed as Visiting Assistant Professor)
  • Prior undergraduate teaching experience
  • Ability to teach Forensic Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses
