Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
One year appointment teaching mathematics courses and/or statistics courses. Duties include 12 credit hours of teaching each Fall and Spring semester totaling 24 hours of teaching per academic year. Courses will be made up of 3 and/or 4 credit hour courses taught face-to-face on main campus. One year appointment with possible reappointment, pending funding and evaluations.
Educational Requirements for the Position
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or closely related field. Applicants from all areas of mathematics are encouraged to apply.

Sam Houston State University is a comprehensive public institution of higher education located in historic Huntsville, 60 miles north of Houston. The University has an enrollment of about 21,000 students. In 2022, SHSU received new designations as a High Research Activity Institution (R2 status) by the Carnegie Commission.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has 28 tenured or tenure-track faculty in mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics. The BA, BS, and MS degrees are offered in Mathematics. In addition, the MA degree is offered in Mathematics. The MS degree is offered in Statistics and Data, along with a BS in Data Science, and Statistics minors at the undergraduate level. The department is actively involved in undergraduate research and developing innovative teaching methods that encourage students to be more actively engaged in the study of mathematics.
