Title of Position \u2013 Visiting Assistant Professor, Mathematics - 1 year position

DEPARTMENT: Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics

STARTING DATE: Fall Term 2026

TIMELINE: Screening of applications begins immediately and continues until position is filled.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as instructor of record for assigned courses, holding office hours for students, grading tests and papers, providing other instruction-related duties, and mentoring students.

Actively participate in faculty development opportunities, attend faculty workshops, attend faculty meetings.

Give one public presentation per year related to the fellow's research interests.

The Visiting faculty member will contribute to the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics, teaching a 2-3-1 load, including mathematics and general education courses, mentoring students, and giving a public presentation based on their research. This is an ideal position for an early career educator, awarded the PhD within the past two years or ABD, interested in teaching in a liberal arts environment. A faculty mentor will be assigned, and the fellow will participate in our comprehensive faculty development program. This is a one-year position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: Master's or equivalent degree in mathematics or a closely aligned field

PREFERRED: Doctorate or ABD in mathematics or a closely aligned field. Relevant teaching experience in mathematics or related discipline.

Successful candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to support the College's mission and contribute to the strategic plan.

SALARY: Competitive for entry-level appointment at similar institutions
