Position Summary: The Creative Arts Division at Western Oregon University invites applications for a full -time non -tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Music Education to join the Performing Arts Department. This position is for the 2026- 2027 academic year with the possibility of a one- year reappointment depending on programmatic needs. The successful candidate will organize and direct WOU's comprehensive K -12 Music Education program. Teaching will include Music Education (all levels), Conducting, Instrumental Methods, History of Western Music (yearlong online sequence, antiquity through modern), and Pedagogy. Academic advising for Music Education students is an essential component of this position. Will also serve as liaison between the department and the College of Education for Music Education student teacher placements, and coordinate observation placements for pre- service students. Other teaching assignments are expected to include General Education and Music courses and/or lessons in the instructor's area(s) of expertise, based on the needs of the department and university. Preferred qualifications include the ability to teach Choral Methods and Elementary Music Methods; prior experience coordinating student teaching and observation placements; and experience supervising student teachers.
