Description:

The Bauer Human-Centered AI Institute at the University of Houston invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure-track) position, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. This position is structured as a postdoctoral appointment with a primary focus on research, along with responsibilities supporting the institute's teaching needs. This is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year.

Position Overview

We seek a candidate who can contribute to the teaching mission in areas such as business analytics, management information systems, operations management, or related fields. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and support the continued growth of Department of Decision and Information Sciences.

Compensation and Teaching Load

This position offers a salary of $70,000 per year. The expected teaching load is approximately 2.5 courses per year, typically consisting of two regular semester courses and one short-session course.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Operations Management, or a closely related field (ABD candidates near completion will be considered)
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or strong potential for excellence in teaching

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a high-quality research environment
  • Teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses
