Duties Description Position Overview:

The NYS Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Part-Time Video Editor with graphic design experience to join our Communications team. Under the direction of the Communications Director and reporting to the Sr. Graphic Designer, the candidate will play a key role in visual storytelling and help create compelling designs and video content that connect New York students and families with essential financial aid information.

This entry-level position is ideal for a visual storyteller who wants to create engaging, high-impact digital content through creative video editing and graphic design to reach audiences across the state.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Create, edit, and produce high-quality long- and short-form video productions to promote NYS Student Financial Aid Programs. This includes integrating animated illustrations, typography, motion graphics, and live-action footage.
  • Create and produce videos to promote New York State's Student Financial Aid Programs, using animated illustrations, typography, and footage shot by the Creative team, including social media and other marketing materials.
  • Assist in the pre-production phase by contributing to scriptwriting, storyboarding, and creating/reviewing concepts for multimedia campaigns.
  • Collaborate with others across the agency to develop engaging content for a variety of audiences, including students, parents, and schools. Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and vendors to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Identify opportunities to showcase HESC's Grants, Scholarships, and Loan Forgiveness programs, as well as produce behind-the-scenes content and informational updates.
  • Stay current on emerging social media trends, formats, and algorithms and apply insights to maximize HESC's reach and keep content fresh and engaging.
  • Monitor and report on video performance and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain strict production quality and brand consistency across all agency projects, ensuring all visuals align with NYS and HESC brand guidelines.

Lead the organization, tagging, and maintenance of HESC's extensive video and photography asset library to ensure files are easily accessible for the wider agency.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of experience in video production, animation, and digital communications.
  • Fluency in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Basic knowledge of audio editing/sound design and graphic design.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Photography and lighting knowledge a plus.

Substitution: Associate, bachelor's, or master's degree in Video Production, Graphic Design, social media, Digital Communications, or a similar degree, substitute for two, four, or five years.

Additional Comments TELECOMMUTING INFORMATION: Initially positions work full-time in the office and a hybrid telecommuting schedule of up to 50% remote work can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview.
