TITLE: Vice Principal

REPORTS TO: Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-Months-Affiliated Position- UFRAA

REQUIREMENTS:

  • New Jersey Certification - Principal
  • 5 years successful teaching experience or equivalent

A. STUDENT PROGRESS, CARE AND SUPERVISION

  1. Implements, maintains, monitors, evaluates and communicates student progress and

behavior and student conduct with appropriate staff and parents/guardians as needed.

  1. Eliminates actual and potential hazards to the health, safety and welfare of students.

B. PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION

  1. Develops short (one year) and long (three years) range personnel plans to insure

accomplishment of the school's mission.

  1. Assists with the identification, observation and selection and orientation of

new personnel.

  1. Assigns, supervises, and supports all building professional and paraprofessionals

and support personnel.

  1. Evaluates the performance of, all building professional and

paraprofessionals and support personnel. Supports the Staff Development

initiatives of the district.

  1. Works with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to design

effective staff and professional development programs that support the goals of the

school and the K-12 program.

  1. Administers the negotiated contract relative to building staff.

  2. Develops and monitors Professional Improvement Plans for instructional staff.

  3. Supports the staff development initiatives of the district.

  4. Creates a master schedule.

C. CURRICULUM

  1. In conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction,

develops and monitors curricular programs which reflect the educational objectives

and goals of the school, district, and community.

  1. Works with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to implement a

plan to review and revise curriculum maps on an ongoing basis.

  1. Seeks appropriate resources of time, money, and materials to support the curriculum.

  2. Assesses the achievement of curricular goals and the effectiveness of the total

instructional program.

  1. Oversee and facilitate the administration of state standardized testing.

D. SCHOOL FACILITIES

  1. Assesses existing facilities, vis-à-vis curricular/instructional needs, and develops

short and long range usage plans, including contingencies when necessary.

  1. Generates long range forecasts of building needs.

  2. Coordinates building usage by staff and outside groups.

  3. Open lines of communication with the custodial supervisor. Re: cleanliness of building.

E. BUDGET

  1. Initiates and develops instructional, curricular, and personnel budget on an annual

basis.

  1. Monitors all building expenditures for the current fiscal year.

  2. Evaluates budgetary effectiveness and efficiency of the past fiscal year.

F. COMMUNICATION

  1. Maintains optimal two-way lines of communication between home and school.

  2. Maintains awareness of and sensitivity to the informal patterns of communication

within the school.

  1. Periodically assesses all modes of communication.

  2. Maintains adequate/appropriate contact with such outside school organizational

groups as the PTA.

  1. Attends Board of Education meetings to inform the Board on any matter that

relates to the successful operation of the school.

  1. Maintains visibility and accessibility to students, staff, parents and community.

  2. Maintains school website.

G. INSTRUCTIONAL

  1. Monitors instructional best practices, and learning strategies to ensure their

appropriateness to the needs of students.

  1. Creates and maintains a school climate that both supports and facilitates learning.

  2. Provides for the use of all technology resources to support the development,

acquisition and application of twenty-first century learning.

  1. Develops an organizational structure that facilitates schedules optimal learning/teaching.

H. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. Takes active membership in relevant professional organizations.

  2. Attends such conferences, seminars and workshops for professional improvement.

I. OTHER DUTIES

  1. Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.

Salary determined by the UFRSD Board of Education, ranging from $110,000.00 to $125,000.00 The position includes health, prescription and dental benefits. It is affiliated with the Upper Freehold Regional Administration Association.
