Position Overview

Navistar Financial Corporation currently has an opportunity for a Vice President, Risk, Operations & Export based at our headquarters in Lisle, Illinois.

The Vice President, Risk, Operations & Export will be responsible for integrating and overseeing enterprise underwriting, credit risk management, operations, and export programs to support International Financials'* strategic objectives, growth priorities, and risk appetite.

This role provides leadership across multiple business segments, ensuring effective execution of underwriting standards, operational excellence, portfolio performance, regulatory compliance, and client service delivery.

The VP establishes and governs enterprise-wide policies, processes, controls, and performance frameworks that drive disciplined decision-making, operational efficiency, and sustainable business outcomes. Working closely with executive leadership, the incumbent leads cross-functional initiatives, optimizes organizational performance, and ensures the effective management of credit and operational risks while supporting domestic and international business growth.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Risk & Underwriting Leadership

  • Lead the development, implementation, and governance of enterprise underwriting and credit risk strategies aligned with business objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Establish underwriting policies, approval authorities, risk frameworks, and portfolio management practices.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in credit decision-making across business units and customer segments.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, risk concentrations, and emerging trends, proactively recommending risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide executive oversight of complex credit transactions and key customer relationships.

Operations Leadership

  • Direct operational strategies and execution to ensure efficient, scalable, and client-focused business processes.
  • Establish operational performance metrics, service standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive process optimization, workflow modernization, and operational excellence programs.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, governance practices, and regulatory compliance across operational functions.
  • Lead initiatives that improve productivity, service delivery, and organizational effectiveness.

Export Program Management

  • Oversee the development and execution of export financing and international business programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable export regulations, trade policies, and government requirements.
  • Partner with business development and commercial teams to support domestic and international growth opportunities.
  • Evaluate cross-border risks and establish appropriate controls to support sustainable expansion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, financial institutions, customers, and regulatory agencies.

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to enterprise strategy, planning, and performance management.
  • A history of transformative leadership impacting cross-functional performance and operational effectiveness
  • Develop long-term business plans that balance growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and risk management.
  • Lead enterprise initiatives that improve decision quality, business execution, and customer experience.
  • Present risk, operational, and portfolio performance updates to executive leadership, committees, and boards as required.
  • Foster collaboration across finance, sales, legal, compliance, credit, and operations functions.

People Leadership

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team across underwriting, risk, operations, and export functions.
  • Establish clear objectives, accountability measures, and professional development opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness, operational excellence, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor senior leaders and support succession planning initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree and at least 16 years equipment financing, financial services, including 8 years management experience

OR

Master's degree and at least 14 years of quipment financing, financial services, including 8 years management experience

OR

At least 18 years of equipment financing, financial services, including 8 years management experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Experience in credit risk, underwriting, operations, commercial finance, banking, equipment finance, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-level risk management and operational functions.
  • Experience overseeing complex credit portfolios, underwriting programs, and operational performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of export financing, international trade, and risk management practices preferred.
  • Proven experience leading large, cross-functional teams and enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Experience in credit risk management, underwriting, and portfolio administration.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, process excellence, and governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of export finance, international business practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional strategic planning and business leadership capabilities.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with the ability to interpret complex business and risk metrics.
