Compensation: $180,000 – $215,000 base + Bonus

Summary:
We're looking for a data leader who can launch and scale enterprise data governance and master data management (MDM) strategies—especially around provider, patient, and payer data. The ideal candidate is someone who’s equally comfortable influencing executives and rolling up their sleeves to define policy, stand up catalog/MDM tools, and lead hands-on governance operations. You must be empathetic, strategic, and comfortable driving process and compliance within a healthcare setting. This is a great opportunity for someone who sees the “big picture” of enterprise data management but also knows what it takes to build the program from the ground up.

Role Summary:
As Vice President of Data Governance, you will lead the enterprise-wide strategy and execution of data governance, metadata management, data catalog, and MDM solutions. You’ll oversee data stewardship, establish scalable governance practices, and partner across the business to drive data quality, compliance, and enablement. You will report directly to executive leadership and manage a growing team of governance professionals and engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Leadership
- Build and own the enterprise data governance program (standards, policies, operating model)
- Launch and manage MDM initiatives (provider, patient, payer) with cross-functional buy-in
- Champion data governance with executive leadership; measure and demonstrate ROI
- Align governance strategy with business goals, OKRs, and compliance needs
- Define stewardship roles, domain councils, and data ownership structures
Team Management & Execution
- Lead and grow a team of 4–6 data governance professionals (data stewards, engineers, analysts)
- Drive a hands-on culture that values continuous improvement and stakeholder empathy
- Mentor team on governance principles and solution design
- Own the execution of governance roadmap, issue management, and change control
Technology & Delivery Oversight
- Select, implement, and optimize metadata management and data catalog tools (Microsoft Purview preferred)
- Lead MDM platform execution (Informatica 360, Reltio, Profisee, etc.)
- Oversee design of match/merge schemas, entity resolution logic, lineage tracking, CI/CD pipelines
- Partner with data architects to maintain consistent data models and infrastructure
Compliance & Risk
- Ensure HIPAA/HITRUST compliance, audit readiness, and incident response processes
- Lead governance enablement across strategic and tactical business processes
- Support initiatives tied to ISO 27001, NIST, SOC2, and other regulatory frameworks
Education & Communication
- Evangelize data literacy and promote a data-driven culture across the enterprise
- Translate governance concepts into business value for clinical and executive stakeholders
- Develop dashboards, training, and internal communication tools to increase governance adoption
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Required Experience
- 7+ years in data governance, data quality, or MDM with 3+ years of people or project leadership
- Proven success launching and managing enterprise MDM solutions (preferably in healthcare)
- Hands-on experience with catalog solutions, metadata management, and governance frameworks
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, NPI, ICD-10, etc.)
- Experience with cloud ecosystems (Azure or AWS) and modern data tech stacks
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with C-level executives
Preferred Experience
- Certifications: DAMA CDMP, DCAM, HITRUST, Informatica/Reltio/Profisee certifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, ERwin, PowerDesigner
- Functional knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization, Git, Jenkins, etc.)
- Experience creating business cases, governance metrics, and driving enterprise adoption
