A well-capitalized commercial general contractor with a growing presence in Southeast Michigan is hiring a Vice President of Construction to lead field operations, project execution, and regional growth. This role is part of the executive leadership team and will play a key role in shaping how the company scales across the Detroit market.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who has built teams, delivered complex projects, and understands the realities of operating in the Michigan construction market.

Job Details

Responsibilities
  • Lead all construction operations across Metro Detroit and surrounding markets, overseeing project teams and field leadership
  • Establish standards for safety, quality, schedule, and execution across the portfolio
  • Partner closely with preconstruction, estimating, and business development to support backlog growth and pursuit strategy
  • Provide executive oversight of multiple projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Hire, develop, and mentor senior project managers, superintendents, and operations leaders
  • Drive accountability around cost control, forecasting, staffing plans, and risk management
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for owners, developers, and key trade partners

Background
  • 15+ years of progressive experience with a commercial GC or CM
  • Prior experience as a VP, Director of Construction, Project Executive, or senior operations leader
  • Track record managing large and complex commercial projects
  • Strong understanding of union and non-union environments common to the Detroit market
  • Proven ability to build and retain high-performing teams
  • Comfortable operating at both the executive and field levels

  • Project sizes ranging from mid-seven figures to $100M+
  • Core projects throughout Detroit, Southeast Michigan, and nearby regional markets
