Vice President Human Resources

Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Vice President of Human Resources HRVP for Graduate Medical Education GME you will serve as the strategic HR leader supporting the nations largest GME program spanning 82 hospitals and 6000 residents across HCA Healthcare. In this highly matrixed enterprise-facing role you will work in close partnership with the President of GME division leadership and hospital HR teams to create an exceptional academic and employment experience for residents fellows and GME operational leaders. You will be responsible for building and sustaining a workplace culture that reflects academic collaboration strong relationships operational excellence and leadership accountability. This includes providing strategic HR leadership stabilizing and developing GME leadership teams improving operational integration with hospital HR partners and directly influencing enterprise-wide talent initiatives for GME. This role will be onsite at the Health Park office in Brentwood TN.

What You Will Do in This Role

Strategic HR Leadership

Serve as the key HR partner to the President of GME functioning as an integrated member of the GME executive team-not merely as a support service.

Lead strategic workforce planning and people initiatives for a highly academic complex service line supporting 6000 residents and multiple leadership teams across 82 hospitals.

Partner with physician recruitment service lines and divisionhospital leaders to align the resident pipeline with long-term physician workforce needs.

Resident & GME Program Support

Oversee HR support for all resident employee relations onboarding investigations performance and compliance needs.

Support academic-program operations faculty interactions evaluation processes progression requirements.

Drive strategies that strengthen resident retention into HCA facilities upon graduation.

Hospital & Enterprise Integration

Strengthen the partnership between GME HR and hospital HR teams so residents receive consistent proactive support.

Reduce reactive escalations by building shared accountability structured communication and HR rounding culture within facilities.

Collaborate with COEs Benefits Labor Relations on unique resident requirements and risk mitigation strategies.

Support union-avoidance awareness and proactive culture-building at the facility level.

Executive Influence & Cross-Functional Partnership

Regularly partner and communicate with hospital CEOs division Presidents and facility HRVPs on high-risk issues.

Provide thought leadership influence decision-making and challenge appropriately within executive settings.

Serve as a visible culture leader and relationship-builder in a highly academic environment.

What You Should Have for This Role

Education

Bachelors degree requiredMasters degree preferred

Experience

10 years of relevant HR leadership experienceStrong background in Hospital HR operations Enterprise-level or matrixed environment Experience with physicians academic medical environments or GME preferred but not required if enterprise matrix experience is strong.

Certifications

PHRSPHR preferred
