Position Summary

Reporting to the SVP and Business Leader for Illumina's emerging growth businesses, the VP and General Manager, Global Laboratory Services Business & Operations will oversee a global fully cross-functional team, providing visionary business-leadership to expand Illumina's laboratory services offerings for customers, third parties, and other internal businesses and stakeholders. While always striving to serve the interests and mission of Illumina, ultimately expanding & accelerating the adoption and utilization across Illumina's entire portfolio of solutions and offerings.

Job Description

Illumina is looking for a bold strategic business & laboratory operations leader to run all aspects of the Illumina's 3rd-party services offerings across the entire Illumina and partner ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity within Illumina with the exciting mission to strategically build a portfolio of service offerings across the entire ecosystem, including but not limited to CLIA Certified clinical offerings as well as large-scale, low-cost sequencing- and array-based services to support large-scale national genome initiatives, large-scale data generation services, in addition to differentiated & competitive genome factory service offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a Unified Global Microarray Portfolio and Organizational Competencies
  • Develop and execute a multi-year global growth & business strategy with regional/local operating plans to expand Illumina's 3rd-party service offerings, focused on delivering a complete portfolio of solutions across Illumina's served markets.
  • Lead the cross-functional team with shared accountability for developing and delivering successful strategic transformation that translates into effective operational plans which deliver expected business results.
  • Lead the cross-functional and enterprise-wide team to develop and execute a multi-year innovative roadmap of laboratory service offerings.
  • Collaborate closely with global & regional commercial & operations teams in support of the strategic transformation and operational execution.
  • Lead the organization to ensure development, delivery, market and successful sale of a complete portfolio of laboratory service solutions at scale while ensuring compliance with global regulatory & compliance needs.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration across global and regional teams to represent Illumina's full portfolio of laboratory service solutions to the market and with internal stakeholder businesses and organizations.

Leadership

  • Lead, inspire, and grow a high-performing cross-functional enterprise-wide global team across R&D, Product Management, Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Sales & Service functions including other internal business stakeholders (e.g. Bioinsights, Clinical, CDx).
  • Foster a customer- and business-led culture of accountability, discipline, collaboration, agility, and innovation centered on a complete portfolio of service offerings to deliver differentiated value for customers.
  • Serve as a key voice of the customer, influencing company-wide initiatives.
  • Champion inclusion, talent development, and future business-leadership succession across the company.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated business-leadership in building and scaling global portfolio of 3rd-party service offerings & operational capabilities with cross-functional leadership responsibility and full P&L management responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience leading regulatory-compliant product and workflow solutions development and delivery of a complete portfolio laboratory service offerings.
  • Ability to influence across all functions including core R&D, Regional Commercial teams, internal business stakeholders in addition to enterprise-wide shared-service organizations in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to translate strategy into sustainable & scalable business results.
  • Experience/Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in life sciences service laboratory operations with strategic & business operations experience; MBA or advanced clinical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 20 years of increasing leadership experience, working in a complex matrixed organization.
  • Minimum 3 years leading a 3rd-party laboratory services business with P&L management responsibility.

Compensation

The estimated base salary range for the Vice President & General Manager, Global Laboratory Services Business & Operations role based in the United States of America is: $278,800 - $418,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
