Position: Vice President for Student Affairs

Location: Athens Campus

Department: President’s Office

Reports to: President of Athens Technical College

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Create high quality services pertaining to security, recruitment, admission, maintenance, and graduation of students. 
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests from prospective students regarding the college's programs and services.
  • Develop and implement a process to track and mail correspondences to those who contact the college for information.
  • Serve as the Title IX Coordinator for students.
  • Investigate and resolve student complaint according to the college policies and procedures.
  • Arrange campus tours and oversee college recruitment.
  • Participate in career days, PROBE sessions, and community events and maintain working relationships with feeder organizations.
  • Assist in the development of information programs about services available.
  • Develop and implement effective procedures to process admissions applications and the associated documentation required by the admissions process.
  • Administer the admissions placement test to applicants who wish to earn a diploma or associate degree and who have not submitted appropriate test scores.
  • Conduct information sessions for applicants to discuss program choices, answer general questions, provide program literature, and tour program areas.
  • Ensure that applicants meet the appropriate admissions requirements.
  • Coordinate the academic advisement program.
  • Conduct an orientation program for new students.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Move on When Ready and joint enrollment programs at the technical college.
  • Counsel students who have personal, academic, or discipline problems.
  • Assist applicants and students in making personal, educational, and occupational decisions.
  • Counsel students placed on academic probation or academic dismissal.
  • Manage student due process procedures to adjudicate disciplinary matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education in educational leadership, vocational administration, counseling, or a closely related area of assignment *and* Four (4) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field or assignment that includes two years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience within the Technical College System of Georgia.
  • Postsecondary experience in Student Affairs.
