Here's a summary of responsibilities:
The Vice President, Finance (VP, Finance) serves as a key member of the leadership team, overseeing the General Accounting, Financial Operations, and Financial Planning & Analysis functions focused on fiscal responsibility and financial transparency. The VP, Finance will lead financial strategy, planning, and analysis across the organization while ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. 
Here’s how you’ll have an impact:
Financial Strategy & Leadership 
  1. Develop and implement financial strategies to support the mission and long-term sustainability of the organization. 
  2. Establish and oversee the implementation of financial goals and objectives for the Finance department. 
  3. Collaborate with the SVP, Chief of Finance and senior leadership to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
  4. Provide financial insights and recommendations to division and department leaders to guide strategic decision-making.
  5. Function as a technical resource for the organization, staying apprised of accounting, taxation, and compliance development industry trends and best practices, and providing recommendations and education to Finance and division leaders.
  6. Foster a culture of financial accountability and stewardship throughout the organization. 
Financial Management & Compliance 
  1. Oversee all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting functions. 
  2. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit financial regulations. 
  3. Maintain internal controls and safeguard assets to mitigate financial risk. 
  4. Oversee the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors and financial consultants. 
  5. Ensure timely and accurate filing of financial reports, including IRS Form 990 and other regulatory submissions. 
  6. Manage banking relationships and oversee cash and investment management strategies. Assist with the setup, operations, and closure of foreign bank accounts as needed. 
Budgeting & Financial Planning   
  1. Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with division and department leaders to develop realistic and mission-driven budgets. 
  2. Monitor the organization’s financial performance against the budget, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities. 
  3. Prepare and present financial statements, reports, and forecasts to leadership. 
Financial Analysis & Decision Support 
  1. Serve as a strategic financial advisor for division and department leaders, including: 
  2. Conduct in-depth financial analyses to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth. 
  3. Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic planning and decision-making. 
  4. Provide data-driven insights to assess program effectiveness and financial sustainability.
  5. Present complex financial data in a clear and actionable manner to non-financial stakeholders. 
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight 
  1. Hire, mentor, support, coach, motivate, and develop teams to maximize collective performance. Create an atmosphere for outstanding teamwork through clear expectations, frequent communication, and providing fair and consistent feedback. Manage performance of team members effectively. 
  2. Evaluate and enhance financial systems, software, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Implement automation and process improvements to drive operational efficiency. 
  3. Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and effectiveness. 
  4. Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization’s financial health and strategic goals. 
 
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field   
  • Master’s degree/MBA preferred 
  • CPA strongly preferred 
  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting 
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, financial management, and regulatory compliance 
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex, multi-faceted, geographically diverse teams 
  • Experience providing solutions in a customer-focused, consultative manner to a variety of internal and external stakeholders 
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams in dynamic environments 
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills 
  • Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills 
  • Strong business acumen and judgment with understanding of strategic planning and execution 
  • Ability to lead and influence at all levels within the organization 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to earn the confidence and support of a wide range of internal and external constituents 
  • Capability to distill information clearly and explain complex issues with precision and consistency 
  • Appreciation for sport and the ideals of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement

Here's where you'll work:
Colorado Springs Downtown Headquarters / Hybrid 
Here's some more information you need to know:
  • Hiring pay range $210,000 - $215,000 per year.
  • This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 25% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
