This position serves as the enterprise expert in self-insured plan administration, regulatory governance, and vendor performance management, while delivering an exceptional benefits experience to employees.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the strategic and day-to-day management of enterprise-wide benefits programs including health, welfare, wellness, leave, workers' compensation, and EAP
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to senior leadership on benefits strategy, compliance, risk, and cost considerations
  • Develop, recommend, and implement new or modified benefit plans, policies, and programs aligned with organizational objectives
  • Prepare and oversee plan communications, summaries, and announcements for new and updated plans
  • Direct the preparation and filing of all required federal and state benefits reports and regulatory submissions
  • Evaluate vendor quotes and proposals and present data-driven recommendations to leadership
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory changes and advise on required or strategic benefit program adjustments
  • Design and maintain benefits department policies, procedures, and governance standards
  • Oversee relationships with benefits brokers, carriers, wellness partners, and consultants
  • Mentor, develop, and lead the benefits team while ensuring accurate, timely benefit reconciliation and issue resolution
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Deep knowledge of self-insured health plans, plan funding strategies, and vendor management
  • Working knowledge of leave and disability requirements including ADA, FEHA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and related regulations
  • Strong analytical and research skills to evaluate benefits data, trends, and compliance risks
  • Experience supervising and leading a team across Benefits and Leave of Absence matters
  • Ability to communicate complex benefits, compliance, and cost concepts clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Advanced Excel capabilities and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives and competing priorities with strong organizational skills
  • Experience with HRIS platforms
  • Experience in a finance preferred
