Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists Miami is a 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital located in Miami, Florida. Our hospital offers advanced specialty services including Behavior, Emergency and Critical Care/ ICU, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Surgery/Orthopedics.

Our team values accountability, integrity, and teamwork, and is committed to delivering the highest standard of veterinary medical care.

We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, serving Miami-Dade County and the surrounding South Florida community.

TPHS Miami is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery TEAM!

About You

Your Experience & Skills

  • Veterinary Technician licensure (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, NOT required! Experienced Veterinary Assistants encouraged to apply!
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service is required
  • Surgery and anesthesia experience highly preferred
  • A degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
  • Assist surgeons and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including patient assessments, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and anesthesia preparation
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs throughout surgical procedures
  • Assist with surgical procedures in accordance with Florida Veterinary Practice Act guidelines
  • Maintain sterile surgical environments and ensure proper instrument preparation and care
  • Communicate with clients regarding individualized pet health concerns, treatment plans, medications, and Thrive Membership options
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records utilizing hospital practice management systems
  • Obtain relevant patient histories and client information
  • Use safe restraint techniques and uphold hospital safety protocols
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sterile treatment, surgical, and laboratory areas
  • Mentor and support fellow team members while contributing to a positive hospital culture
