Veterinary Technician, Surgery CVT/LVT/RVT Preferred | $24–$34/hr + $2,000 Sign-On Bonus ($3,000 for VTS) | Full-Time Benefits | Three 12-Hour Shifts | Lawrence, MA
Bulger Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team in Lawrence, MA. This is an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Technician with anesthesia and surgical experience to work alongside a board-certified surgeon performing advanced soft tissue, orthopedic, and minimally invasive procedures.

Compensation
- $24–$34/hour, based on experience, skill level, and certification
- $2,000 sign-on bonus
- $3,000 sign-on bonus for VTS candidates

Schedule
- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- No weekends
- Up to 3 holidays per year

About the Role
As a Surgical Veterinary Technician, you’ll be an essential part of a collaborative team providing advanced surgical care to a wide variety of specialty cases. This role supports soft tissue, orthopedic, and minimally invasive procedures while working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and hospital leadership.
Responsibilities
- Monitor anesthesia throughout surgical procedures, including induction, intubation, extubation, and recovery
- Calculate and administer anesthetic agents, CRIs, and fluid therapy
- Troubleshoot anesthesia and monitoring equipment as needed
- Prepare and collect blood samples for diagnostics
- Obtain and process pre-operative and post-operative radiographs
- Scrub in and assist during surgery
- Assist with procedures including:
- Abdominal exploratory surgery
- Cruciate repair
- Fracture repair
- Thoracotomy
- Laparoscopic procedures
- Arthroscopic procedures
- Monitor and assess patient vitals for awake, sedated, and anesthetized patients
- Maintain accurate medical records and surgical documentation
- Provide exceptional patient care and support throughout the surgical process
Qualifications
We’re looking for a Veterinary Technician who enjoys surgery and anesthesia and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
- Minimum 2 years of anesthesia experience in a veterinary setting
- Strong knowledge of anesthetic monitoring, CRIs, fluid therapy, and drug calculations
- Experience assisting in surgical procedures
- Strong medical recordkeeping and surgical documentation skills
- Ability to interpret medical records and apply findings to patient care
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) strongly preferred
- VTS candidates encouraged to apply
- Confidence with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance required
- Positive attitude with a collaborative and team-focused approach to patient care
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
